I thought these sessions were cool, something different at first.. But now, these versions of his songs have grown so much on me that I think I prefer it to his album versions! And "I Don't Mind"??! Holy crap, so beautiful. Would love to see video of these recording sessions or them all doing these live.

My opinion: Bluegrass can be hard to appreciate - kind of like good whiskey/whisky or beer . . . but if you don't give up on it, give it time, and come back to it when your ears and mind are ready for it, you will be richly rewarded. This album is probably the best I've ever heard for both opening someone to the style while making them hungry for more (and please don't misinterpret . . . it's not just a Bluegrass "starter/primer" album - if you've already a taste for it, it will be obvious this is one that belongs on the top shelf).

This record right here is the the real gawddang deal. Cleanse yourself of godawful brain dead brand of country music you see on the CMAs. Pop country & bro country are a plague.
